One of the earliest signs of aging is that our eyebrows start to come down. Sometimes people notice this
because the eyebrows themselves are in a lower, more tired position. Often they come in to see us
complaining that their friends keep asking them if they are tired or even angry, simply because their
eyebrows make them look that way. More often however, it’s not the eyebrows themselves but the skin just
underneath the eyebrows that is pushed down onto the upper eyelids by the eyebrows as they move
downward. This gives the upper eyelids a very heavy look. In fact, many of the people who come in to see
us saying they need upper lid surgery, in fact need Browlift surgery instead.
A Browlift is a very different procedure than it used to be. Older techniques required long incisions, often
resulting in some loss of hair, permanent numbness, and occasionally created a surprised look(we have
all seen these results). A Browlift can now be performed using several very small incisions that are completely
hidden behind the hairline. A small, high-tech endoscope is then used to quickly, easily, and subtly shift the
brow upwards, which opens the eyes in a very natural, youthful manner. If performed at the same time as a
facelift or a Quicklift it can be performed using even smaller incisions.
The results following a Browlift are dramatic yet subtle, giving a more youthful, well rested, and natural
appearance. Patients state that their friends and family comment on how good they look, but because the
appearance is so natural, they never even consider that they may have undergone cosmetic surgery.
