Attaining Facial Harmony through Surgery
Chin implant, also called Genioplasty or chin augmentation, can correct a chin that does not contribute to facial harmony and symmetry. Considerable time and fortune spent on cosmetic surgery will be wasted if one has a chin that is not proportional to the other prominent facial features such as the nose and mouth.
All the major facial structures are symmetrical in facial harmony and the chin plays an important role in it. For example, the nose will look bigger if one has a weak or small chin and smaller if the chin is prominent. But not everyone has the perfect chin as bone resorption in the elderly, facial injury, or an abnormally small chin (microgenia) can result in chin asymmetry that can be corrected through genioplasty.
The chin implant procedure is done by inserting an implant through incisions either under the chin or under the lower lip inside the mouth.
The procedure is relatively safe and quick, and can deliver dramatic improvements to one's appearance.
